The Great Lakes Chapter of the Marketing Research Association was established in May, 1983. The Great Lakes Chapter has always been and remains one of the strongest Chapters in the Association. The Chapter’s focus is on its members and the enhancement of their research knowledge through educational programming and networking opportunities.

The logo of the Great Lakes Chapter is a Blue Ships Wheel. The poem below was written by Linda Tessar and presented at a GLC Seminar. The poem explains the meaning behind the wheel:

"The wheel, as the ring symbolic- a beginning but never an end
The spokes provide connection, yet openness the message they send.
The hub, the very foundation, the connection to each the call,
We combat the problems together- all for one and one for all!
